12th Edition of Veedhi Viruthu Vizha 2025 at Velammal

Velammal Nexus, in collaboration with the Alternative Media Centre, proudly hosted the 12th edition of the Veedhi Viruthu Vizha on the 4th and 5th of January, 2025. This vibrant cultural festival aimed to recognize, revive, and promote Indian traditional art forms. Over 5,000 folk artistes from across Tamil Nadu participated, showcasing the state's rich cultural heritage with immense pride.

The event was inaugurated at Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair East, in the esteemed presence of Col. Prof. (Dr.) N. S. Santhosh Kumar, Vice Chancellor of TNDALU, Shri M. V. M. Velmohan, Correspondent of Velammal Nexus, and Prof. (Dr.) R. Kaleeshwaran, Founder of the Alternative Media Centre. Shri Nassar, President of the Nadigar Sangam, also graced the occasion, adding grandeur to the celebration of culture and tradition.

The festival featured mesmerizing performances of Tamil Nadu’s traditional folk arts, including Karagattam, Poikkal Kuthirai, Paraiattam, and Oyilattam. These captivating displays of cultural expressions, adorned with vibrant colors and resonant music, provided an immersive experience for the audience. The event was not only a celebration of these art forms but also a significant initiative aimed at preserving and promoting the invaluable heritage of rural arts. It also offered a distinguished platform for emerging and accomplished artists to showcase their talents and gain well-deserved recognition.

In addition, the festival honored Tamil cinema’s trendsetters for their significant contributions in creating socially aware films. Notable filmmakers such as Thiru. Vetrimaaran (Viduthalai Part 2), Thiru. Mari Selvaraj (Vaazhai), Thiru. Pa. Ranjith (Thangalaan), and others were recognized for their impactful works.

This cultural extravaganza was a resounding success, thanks to the collective efforts of the organizers, artistes, and esteemed guests, making it a memorable celebration of Tamil Nadu’s rich heritage and artistic excellence.

12-வது வீதி விருது விழா, 2025

வேலம்மாள் நெக்சஸ் மற்றும் மாற்று ஊடக மையம் இணைந்து 12-வது வீதி விருது விழாவை 2025 ஜனவரி 4 மற்றும் 5 ஆம் தேதிகளில் பெருமையுடன் நடத்தின. இந்த கலைத் திருவிழாவின் முக்கிய நோக்கம், தமிழ்நாட்டின் பாரம்பரியக் கலை வடிவங்களை கெளரவப்படுத்தி, மீண்டும் உயிர்ப்பித்து ஊக்குவிப்பதாகும்.

தமிழ்நாட்டின் அனைத்து மாவட்டங்களிலிருந்தும் சுமார் 5,000க்கும் மேற்பட்ட நாட்டுப்புறக் கலைஞர்கள் விழாவில் கலந்துகொண்டு தங்கள் கலைத்திறன்களை மிகுந்த ஆர்வத்துடன் வெளிப்படுத்தினர். இந்த விழா சென்னை, முகப்பேர் கிழக்கில் உள்ள வேலம்மால் மெட்ரிக்குலேசன் மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளியில் சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்றது.

விழாவை தமிழ்நாடு டாக்டர் அம்பேத்கர் சட்டப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் துணைவேந்தர் கர்னல். பேராசிரியர் (டாக்டர்) என். எஸ். சந்தோஷ் குமார், வேலம்மாள் நெக்சஸ் குழுமத்தின் தாளாளர் திரு. எம். வீ. எம். வேல்மோகன், மாற்று ஊடக மையத்தின் நிறுவனர் பேராசிரியர் (டாக்டர்) ஆர். காளீஷ்வரன் மற்றும் தென்னிந்திய நடிகர் சங்கத்தின் தலைவர் திரு. நாசர் ஆகியோர் சிறப்பித்து தொடங்கிவைத்தனர்.

தமிழ்நாட்டின் பாரம்பரிய நாட்டுப்புறக் கலை வடிவங்களான தெருக்கூத்து, கரகாட்டம், பொய்க்கால் குதிரை ஆட்டம், பறை இசை, மற்றும் ஒயிலாட்டம் போன்ற நிகழ்ச்சிகள் பார்வையாளர்களின் மனங்களை கவர்ந்து மெய்சிலிர்க்க வைத்தன. வண்ணமயமான ஆடைகள், இனிமையான இசை, மற்றும் அற்புதமான நடன அசைவுகள் இந்த கலைகளுக்கு உயிர் ஊட்டின.

மேலும், தமிழ்நாட்டின் பாரம்பரியக் கலைகள் மற்றும் சமூக விழிப்புணர்வை திரையுலக திரைப்படங்கள் மூலம் மக்களுக்கு கொண்டுசெல்லும் திறமைசாலி திரை இயக்குனர்களுக்கும் விருதுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. திரு. வெற்றிமாறன் (விடுதலை பாகம் 2), திரு. மாரி செல்வராஜ் (வாழை), திரு. பா. ரஞ்சித் (தங்கலான்) உள்ளிட்ட பலர் இந்த விருதுகளைப் பெற்றனர்.

கலைஞர்கள், அமைப்பாளர்கள் மற்றும் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களின் ஒற்றுமையான முயற்சியால் இந்த விழா ஒரு சிறந்த கலைத் திருவிழாவாக அமைந்தது. இது தமிழ்நாட்டின் பாரம்பரிய கலைகளின் அழகையும் அவற்றின் அரிய பாரம்பரியத்தையும் பாதுகாக்க ஒரு முக்கியமான முயற்சியாக திகழ்ந்தது.
