'நம்ம சென்னை, நம்ம பொறுப்பு" என்ற தொனிப்பொருளுடன், சர்வதேச கடலோர தூய்மை தினம் 2025

CITY'S COASTAL CLEANUP

TEAM EFFORT: With the theme "Namma Chennai, Namma Responsibility", International Coastal Cleanup Day 2025 was marked with one of the city's largest-ever volunteer drives. CommuniTREE, a Chennai-based NGO, in collaboration with Greater Chennai Corporation, Forest Department, Indian Coast Guard, Ministry of Science, and conservation partners including Save a Turtle, organised a massive cleanup across 44 stretches of Chennai's coastline from Kasimedu to Kovalam

This year, the campaign saw the participation of 30,000 volunteers, including students, NCC, NSS, NGOs, Lions, Rotary, and corporate groups. Together, they collected over 210 tonnes of plastic and other waste, reinforcing Chennai's commitment to safeguarding its marine ecosystems

At Marina Beach, the event was graced by PCCF Srinivas Reddy, who felicitated the volunteers for their dedication. The Besant Nagar stretch at Thalapakkati was organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (South Zone) and was honoured by the presence of NCB South Zonal Director Mr. Aravindan IPS. On this occasion, the NCB team also took a "Say No to Drugs" pledge, extending the campaign's vision beyond trash-free beaches to a drug-free society.

More than 175 groups took pledges under the campaign's theme "Namma Chennai, Namma Responsibility to keep the city's beaches clean and work towards a greener and more sustainable future.

'நம்ம சென்னை, நம்ம பொறுப்பு" என்ற தொனிப்பொருளுடன், சர்வதேச கடலோர தூய்மை தினம் 2025 நகரின் மிகப்பெரிய தன்னார்வத் தொண்டர் இயக்கங்களுள் ஒன்றாகக் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. சென்னை அடிப்படையிலான communiTREE அமைப்பு, சென்னை மாநகராட்சி, வனத்துறை, இந்திய கடலோர பாதுகாப்புப் படை, அறிவியல் அமைச்சகம் மற்றும் Save a Turtle போன்ற சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு கூட்டாளர்களுடன் இணைந்து, காசிமேடு முதல் கோவளம் வரை உள்ள 44 கடற்கரைப் பகுதிகளில் மாபெரும் தூய்மை இயக்கத்தை முன்னெடுத்தது.

இந்த ஆண்டு, 30,000 தன்னார்வத் தொண்டர்கள் - மாணவர்கள், என்.சி.சி. என் எஸ் எஸ், என்.ஜி ஓக்கள், லயன்ஸ், ரோட்டரி மற்றும் பல கார்ப்பரேட் குழுக்கள் - கலந்து கொண்டு, 210 டன் பிளாஸ்டிக் மற்றும் பிறக்குப்பைகளை அகற்றினர் இதன் மூலம், சென்னை தனது கடல் சூழலை பாதுகாக்கும் உறுதியை மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்தியது.

மெரினா கடற்கரையில், முதன்மை தலைமை வனத்துறை அதிகாரி ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ் ரெட்டி கலந்து கொண்டு தன்னார்வத் தொண்டர்களின் அர்ப்பணிப்பை பாராட்டி கவுரவித்தார் பெசன்ட் நகர் (தலப்பாக்கட்டி பாயிண்ட்) பகுதியில் போதைப்பொருள் கட்டுப்பாட்டு வாரியம் (தெற்கு மண்டலம்) நிகழ்வை ஒருங்கிணைத்தது. இந்நிகழ்வில், தெற்கு மண்டல இயக்குநர் திரு அரவிந்தன் ஐ.பி.எஸ். கலந்து கொண்டு சிறப்புரையாற்றினார்.

இந்த நிகழ்வில், "போதைப்பொருட்களை வேண்டாம் என்று" என்ற உறுதிமொழியையும் எடுத்துக் கொண்டது.இதன் மூலம், குப்பையற்ற கடற்கரைகள் மட்டுமல்லாது, போதைப்பொருள்கள் இல்லாத சமூகத்தை நோக்கி பிரச்சாரத்தின் தொலைநோக்கை விரிவுபடுத்துகிறது.

மேலும், 175-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குழுக்கள், “நம்ம சென்னை, நம்ம பொறுப்பு என்ற தொனிப்பொருளின் கீழ் உறுதிமொழி ஏற்று, நகரின் கடற்கரைகளை சுத்தமாக வைத்திருக்கவும், பசுமையான மற்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கும் எதிர்காலத்திற்காக உழைக்கவும் உறுதியளித்தனர்.
