In Tamil Nadu, Rural Development, Promotion of
Education, and Skill Training & Livelihood Enhancement have driven the most
significant impact. Over 24,500 farmers have benefitted, along with 13,750
students and 1,478 trained individuals.

HDFC
Bank’s Parivartan programme has built a strong and sustained presence across Tamil
Nadu, covering 37 of the state’s 38 districts through a mix of
ongoing, andcompleted projects. The Bank has successfully implemented projects
in boththe Aspirational Districts of Ramanathapuram and
Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu.
The Bank’s flagship Holistic Rural Development
Programme, which focuses on integrated interventions across all 6 focus areas,
has impacted 83 villages in districts including Ariyalur, Krishnagiri,
Ranipet, Tenkasi, and Tiruchirappalli.
Additionally,
Focused Development Programmes, where the Bank carries out specific interventions under
any one or two of the key focus areas in a targeted geographical area, have been implemented
in the districts of Chennai, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Kanchipuram, Kanyakumari,
Krishnagiri, Nagapattinam, Nilgiris, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, and
Virudhunagar.

HDFC Bank was among the top CSR spenders in India for
the financial year ended March 2025. As of 31st March 2025, the Bank had spent
₹1,068 crore on CSR initiatives nationwide. Under the Parivartan programme, the
Bank has impacted over 10.56 crore lives across the country.
KEY INTERVENTIONS IN TAMIL NADU

Agriculture & Water Management: Farmers facing water stress from erratic
rainfall and depleting groundwater have benefitted from farm ponds, check dams,
gabion structures, and micro-irrigation systems in districts such as
Tiruvannamalai, Sivaganga, and Krishnagiri. Training in eco-friendly practices,
drought-resilient crops, and allied activities like sericulture, beekeeping,
backyard poultry, vermicomposting, and millet promotion are providing
alternative incomes. Over 2,500 solar irrigation pumps and streetlights have
reduced costs and ensured reliable power. Promoting climate-resilient farming
in 77 villages, benefitting 2,605 individuals in Coimbatore, Nilgiris

Education & Inclusion: More than 55 schools have been enabled with
digital learning technology, benefiting 13,750+ students. For children with
hearing impairments, STEM labs accessible in sign language are making science
and technology education inclusive.

Skills Development: A three-month residential skill development
programme for youth with disabilities is helping achieve a 60% placement rate.
Women’s self-help groups producing banana fiber-based products have expanded
into global markets, with IKEA sourcing their products.

Healthcare: A mobile medical unit, Parivartan on Wheels,
serves underserved areas of Chennai with consultations, diagnostics, and
medicines for 25,000+ patients. In parallel, investments in sanitation
infrastructure in schools and villages are improving public health.

Startup Ecosystem Support: Since 2017, HDFC Bank’s Parivartan Startup
Grant has awarded ₹12.45 crore to leading incubators in Tamil Nadu such as IIT
Madras, Villgro, Anna University, and Forge Incubator. This has directly
benefitted 51 startups, giving them access to mentorship, prototyping labs, and
market linkages.

Empowering Entrepreneurial Women: Collectivised women producers in Madurai,
Mayiladuthurai, Thirunelveli, Nagapattinam and supported them with seed funding
and training, benefitting over 1,400 women and 1,500 farmers.

Improving Lives with Sericulture in
Krishnagiri: Empowering 1,415 farmers in silk production with improved
practices and market linkages.
·
Advancing TB Diagnosis in Puducherry: Deploying handheld digital X-ray systems for
faster detection.
·
Enhancing Healthcare Facilities in Andaman
& Nicobar Islands: Upgrading ICU facilities at GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair.
