"State-Level Consultation on Strengthening Tobacco Control in Tamil Nadu | NIETC Launch by MACT"


Mary Anne Charity Trust in collaboration with Directorate of public health & Preventive Medicine and Vital Strategies organized a State level consultation on the theme of “Strengthening Tobacco Control in Tamilnadu” on 19th December 2024.

 





 

The objective of the meeting was to strengthen Tobacco control and to integrate all the department to work holistically in Tamil Nadu for tobacco control. The departments participated in this meeting are as follows: Health Department, School Education, Collegiate education, Technical Education, Railways, Airport, Information and Public Relation Department, Food Safety Department, Drugs Control, Cancer Institute and Labour Department. they gave their suggestion on tobacco control and shared their challenges in enforcement of controlling tobacco in Tamil Nadu.

 

On 19th December 2024 Mary Anne Charity Trust (MACT) launched The National Institute for Excellence in Tobacco Control (NIETC) by Dr. Krishnaraj, Joint Director - Public Health in the State Level Consultation on Strengthening Tobacco Control in TamilNadu. The NIETC acts as a pioneering institute dedicated to advancing evidence-based strategies, transformative policy changes, scientific research, Diploma and certificate courses on tobacco control and scale up impactful tobacco control initiatives.
