Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Teynampet hosts special screening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day for young Thalassemia Warriors
Chennai, August 9, 2026: Around 100 young Thalassemia Warriors, along with their families and caregivers, enjoyed a special screening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day at Kamala Cinemas, Vadapalani, organised by Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Teynampet.
The initiative was a heartfelt gesture to celebrate the courage, resilience and spirit of children who navigate regular transfusions and medical care while continuing to pursue their dreams, education and friendships. For a few hours, their hospital routines gave way to laughter, popcorn, friendship and the magic of cinema.
The choice of Spider-Man was particularly fitting, a superhero whose story reflects courage, hope and the strength to overcome challenges. For the Apollo team, however, the real superheroes were the children themselves.
Dr. Revathi Raj, Senior Consultant – Paediatrics & Haematology Oncology, Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Teynampet, said: “Thalassemia may be a part of their journey, but it does not define who they are. These children inspire us with their courage, dreams and resilience every day. We wanted to give them a moment to forget the hospital, laugh freely and simply be children. For us, they are the real superheroes.”
Dr. Ramya U, Consultant – Paediatric Haematology, Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Teynampet, said: “Every child deserves moments filled with laughter, friendship and beautiful memories. Our Thalassemia Warriors show remarkable courage, and today is about celebrating their childhood, dreams and happiness. Seeing their faces light up reminds us that sometimes the simplest moments create the most lasting memories.”
Mr. Karan Puri, CEO, Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Teynampet, said: “Healthcare is ultimately about people. Beyond providing the best medical care, we must also recognise the emotional journey of our patients and families. These young warriors inspire us with their strength and positivity. This is a small gesture to celebrate their childhood and give them a few hours of carefree joy. Their smiles make it truly special for all of us at Apollo.”
The afternoon was more than a movie screening, it was a celebration of childhood, hope and the courage to dream. For Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Teynampet, the occasion was a reminder that healing extends beyond medicines and procedures. Sometimes, it is also found in a child’s laughter, a shared moment of joy and the simple gift of creating a happy memory.
