RENEWX 2026 OPENS TO AN IMPRESSIVE START IN CHENNAI, MARKING A DECADE OF IMPACT FOR INDIA’S CLEAN ENERGY TRANSITION.
10th edition of South India’s landmark renewable energy platform highlights innovation, global collaboration, and India’s pathway to a future of energy abundance
Chennai, April 27, 2026: RenewX 2026, South India’s leading renewable energy sourcing expo, organised by Informa Markets in India, opened today at the Chennai Trade Centre, bringing together the country’s clean energy ecosystem at a vital moment in India’s energy transition. Celebrating its 10th edition, the show is being held under the theme “A Decade of Impact – A Future of Abundance.”
Building on the strong momentum of its previous edition, RenewX continues its strategic presence in Chennai—India’s clean energy powerhouse—reflecting South India’s growing role in renewable energy deployment, manufacturing, and grid-scale integration. The event has received an enthusiastic response from industry stakeholders across India and international markets.
The milestone edition of RenewX features 200+ leading brands, over 50 distinguished speakers, and more than 8,000 expected industry professionals, positioning the platform as a critical marketplace for solar, energy storage, bio-energy, smart grids, and emerging clean technologies.
The formal inauguration of RenewX 2026 was marked by the presence of eminent industry leaders and global representatives, including Ms. Neha Thomas, Associate Director – Economic Analytics, Frost & Sullivan; Ms. Silai Zaki, Australian Consul-General, Chennai; Shri P. Sivakumar, President, Tamil Nadu Solar Energy Developers Association; Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India and Mr. Rajneesh Khattar, Sr. Group Director – Energy Portfolio, Informa Markets in India
Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, said, “India is at a pivotal point in its energy journey, with significant renewable capacity already installed and an ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. RenewX was created to catalyse this transformation, particularly across South India, where policy clarity, manufacturing capability, and innovation converge. As RenewX marks its 10th edition, the platform has evolved beyond a sourcing fair into a strategic enabler—connecting policy, technology, investment, and global partnerships across the renewable energy value chain.
Southern states are not only aligned with this national vision but are also charting their own leadership paths—Tamil Nadu through its strong wind ecosystem and progressive open-access framework, Karnataka through solar, and other states advancing hybrid and distributed models. Tamil Nadu, in particular, is steadily emerging as a renewables-plus-storage hub, offering vast opportunities for domestic and global stakeholders. With forward-looking policies and strong public-private collaboration, almost 80% of the state’s installed solar and wind capacity now operates under open access, setting new benchmarks for scalable renewable energy development,” he added.

Shaping the Next Decade of Renewable Energy Growth
With India targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, RenewX 2026 aligns closely with national priorities in energy security, domestic manufacturing, and grid modernisation. India currently ranks 3rd globally in solar power capacity, 4th in wind power, and 3rd overall in total renewable energy installed capacity, with renewables contributing 39.66% of the country’s total installed power capacity as of October 2025.
The exhibition floor at RenewX 2026 showcases innovations across the renewable energy spectrum, featuring industry leaders such as Waaree Energies, Vikram Solar, Emmvee, Swelect Energy, Gautam Solar, Goldi Solar, Grew Solar, Wattpower, Deye, Feston, Roofsol, and Evolve Green, among others. The technologies on display reflect the sector’s evolution toward integrated solutions encompassing generation, storage, and grid resilience.
A Thought Leadership Platform for the Energy Transition
The three-day RenewX 2026 Conference serves as a robust knowledge platform, with 50+ expert speakers addressing the most pressing opportunities and challenges facing the renewable energy sector. Key discussion areas include unlocking international trade opportunities for Indian renewable suppliers; the evolution of India’s renewable supply chain and next-generation manufacturing; innovations across solar, energy storage, and integrated systems; the expanding role of inverter companies in ESS and biogas applications and the economic and social impact of biogas and bioenergy.
A dedicated masterclass by the Centre for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP) focuses on scaling rooftop solar and Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), while bioenergy remains a key theme through targeted sessions and industry dialogue.
Tamil Nadu: The Renewable Energy Vanguard
Hosting RenewX for the second consecutive year, Chennai underlines Tamil Nadu’s leadership in India’s clean energy landscape. The state has an installed renewable energy capacity of approximately 25,241 MW, accounting for nearly 58.6% of its total installed power capacity.
Tamil Nadu leads the nation in wind energy with around 11,830 MW of installed wind capacity, representing nearly 23% of India’s total wind power, and also ranks among the top solar-producing states with over 10,000 MW of installed solar capacity. Progressive policy frameworks, industrial depth, and infrastructure readiness continue to make Tamil Nadu a preferred destination for renewable energy investment and innovation.
Strengthening Industry Collaboration
RenewX 2026 is strongly supported by leading industry bodies and associations, including the Tamil Nadu Solar Energy Developers Association (TNSEDA), Kerala Renewable Energy Entrepreneurs and Promoters Association (KREEPA), Karnataka Renewable Energy System Manufacturer Association (KRESMA), Telangana Solar Energy Association (T-SEA), and the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.
As RenewX commemorates a decade of impact, the platform reinforces its role as a cornerstone of South India’s renewable energy ecosystem—driving collaboration, showcasing innovation, and enabling the next phase of India’s clean energy growth.
