Chest Sculpt 2.0 Brought Advanced Gynecomastia Surgery Training and Supervised Hands-On Learning to Chennai

Two-day program by Chennai Plastic Surgery combined live surgical demonstration, scientific discussion and supervised operating-room training for plastic surgeons.

Chennai, India: Chennai Plastic Surgery (CPS) hosted Chest Sculpt 2.0 - Advanced Gynecomastia Surgery & Male Chest Contouring, the second edition of its focused surgical education program for plastic surgeons. The two-day initiative was structured around live gynecomastia surgery, surgical planning, case-based discussion and supervised hands-on training.

Led by Dr. Karthik Ram, Plastic Surgeon and Managing Director of Chennai Plastic Surgery, Chest Sculpt 2.0 aimed to move beyond observation alone. The program focused on the clinical reasoning behind each surgical decision - from patient assessment and preoperative markings to tissue evaluation, contour planning, technique selection and intraoperative modification.

The second edition built on the Chest Sculpt initiative as a continuing platform for focused education in gynecomastia surgery and male chest contouring, bringing plastic surgeons together for practical learning, academic exchange and discussion of evolving surgical approaches.

A Practical, Decision-Based Learning Format

Chest Sculpt 2.0 followed a progressive learning pathway: observation, discussion, surgical planning, demonstration and supervised hands-on training. The format was intended to show not only how a procedure was performed, but why a particular approach was chosen for an individual patient.

Day 1: Three Live Gynecomastia Surgery Cases

The first day featured three live gynecomastia surgery cases. During the procedures, faculty discussed patient-specific planning and the factors that guided surgical execution. The live format allowed participants to follow the transition from clinical assessment and markings to operative decision-making and final contouring.

Key areas of discussion included:

• Patient assessment and clinical evaluation

• Preoperative planning and surgical markings

• Assessment of glandular and fatty components

• Individualised treatment planning

• Liposuction strategy and chest contouring

• Glandular tissue management

• Male chest definition and symmetry

• Prevention and management of contour irregularities

• Intraoperative decision-making and modification of the surgical plan

Day 2: Supervised Hands-On Surgical Training

The second day focused on supervised hands-on surgical training involving six cases. Eligible participating plastic surgeons gained practical exposure under appropriate faculty supervision, building directly on the concepts and techniques discussed during the live cases and scientific sessions on Day 1.

Hands-on participation was subject to participant eligibility, patient selection, informed consent and applicable clinical safety protocols.

Learning Beyond the Operating Theatre

The program also included scientific discussion and peer-to-peer exchange around clinical cases, surgical approaches and common challenges in gynecomastia correction. This interactive format encouraged participating surgeons to discuss their own experiences, compare approaches and examine how surgical planning changed with different chest anatomies and clinical presentations.

Dr. Karthik Ram on Chest Sculpt 2.0

“The aim of Chest Sculpt is to make surgical learning practical. We want participating surgeons to see how we assess a patient, understand why a particular plan is chosen, watch that plan being executed and then apply those principles under supervision. Chest Sculpt 2.0 also gave us an opportunity to learn from one another through open discussion and exchange of surgical experience.”

A Focused Platform for Gynecomastia Surgery Education

Gynecomastia correction may require different combinations of liposuction, glandular tissue excision and chest contouring depending on the patient's anatomy and clinical presentation. By combining three live cases on Day 1 with six supervised hands-on cases on Day 2, Chest Sculpt 2.0 provided a concentrated educational experience focused specifically on the assessment, planning and surgical management of gynecomastia and male chest contouring.

Chennai Plastic Surgery developed Chest Sculpt as a focused academic initiative for plastic surgeons. Through its second edition, CPS continued building the program as a platform for live surgical education, practical training, critical discussion and knowledge exchange in male chest surgery.
